Experience Summary
As a recent college graduate, I am highly motivated to help others achieve their goals in education. Majoring in psychology has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of social studies, statistics, and math. In addition, it prepared me to better understand behavior and mental processing. While in college I worked as a department store manager and I regularly conducted training sessions to diverse groups of individuals.
Teaching Style
I recognize that students have different ways of absorbing information therefore I tailor my teaching style to each individual considering their background knowledge and learning goals. I also recognize that almost all children respond well to praise. My goal is to help students retain information and strengthen understanding, and I use different techniques to achieve that goal. One technique that I find to be very effective is learning by teaching. After teaching the material to students, I encourage them to explain it back to me to ensure that they have clear understanding. I am patient and positive, and I am committed to assisting in the progression of each child’s learning.
