I enjoy making learning fun and try to find different ways to teach the material so that it is enjoyable for children.
For four years I have worked as a Reading Specialist Assistant. I helped Kindergarten through fourth grade students learn to read. K-1st, I helped these students achieve the basic foundation of letter sounds to create new words. Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! I received a BA in English from The College of New Jersey, and my studies were primarily focused on studying the literature of various cultures and time periods. Afterwards, I worked for several years as a freelance contributor to a number of newspapers (especially Pioneer Press, a network of Chicago-area community papers) and magazines (especially Hybrid Magazine, an online music publication).

My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I have training and have used many remedial reading programs such as read 180, corrective reading and Direct Instruction by SRA.

I believe my patience and creativity allows children to feel comfortable with their own learning needs. I work with them and help them find their unique learning style. We then build on that style to build their confidence and ability. All children can learn once we find their unique learning "channel".
I have been a Special Education Teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 5 years. I have taught at both the elementary, intermediate and high school levels. I have worked with students who have been severely cognitively disabled and those that have had multiple attention and behavioral concerns. Special Education Teacher/Reading Specialist

Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I have a wide variety of educational experience and have recently crossed over into the realm of education as a Special Education/At-Risk teacher with the Edgerton School District. My current position has me utilizing differentiated instruction and modification techniques with nearly 50 students throughout the day which will enhance my ability to tutor others who need help.
