I currently have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and hold an Arizona teaching certificate. I have spent many years volunteering in both my parent's classrooms. I have also spent the last school year substituting in elementary schools in Tennessee where I am living now. I have thoroughly enjoyed substituting in different grades and subjects. Each day is something new and exciting! As a first-generation college student, I am very much driven to achieve a high level of academic achievement as well as to succeed by graduating with my Doctorate's Degree. In May of 2004 I graduated from a small liberal arts college in Tacoma, Washington. I majored in English with an emphasis in writing. The writing curriculum I followed consisted of writing personal essays, articles, short fiction and even writing for children. Additionally, I wrote several research reports. Research for my Masters Degree required a lengthy detailed dissertation which turned out to consist of four chapters and about forty pages. My teaching style is vary diverse when it comes to my students. I do not believe in one teaching style because there will never be just one learning style present with any child. Every child learns a different way in different subjects and I believe in discovering the child's learning styles and basing my teaching around that so they are able to learn to the best of their ability. I have experience working as an instructional aide at Kofa High School from 10/03-5/05. Motivated children that had mental and behavioral problems. Tutored teenagers with school work and helped out teachers to grade homework. (Ages 15-18)
I enjoy teaching children especially teenagers. I enjoy setting a positve role model for them and for them to help each other on math subjects, reading, etc. I have volunteer respite program when I worked at Arizonas Children Association and have experience working as social worker in Behavioral health. I enjoy helping children and the positive feedback when they learn new material. I believe in motivational interviewing and helping them find positive strengths within themselves.
