I received my BS in Mathematics and my MS in Industrial Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. During my time as a graduate student, I was a teacher of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and of Calculus. I also tutored nearly every undergraduate mathematics course offered at NMT, including calculus, vector analysis, linear algebra, differential equations, probability and statistics, etc. I also took many Physics courses and have a very solid fundamental understanding of Newtonian mechanics. I am a capable computer programmer. I have a basic understanding of Chemistry. I have always had a passion for science and technology, as well as a deep fascination for mathematics.

My philosophy for effective education is comprised of six components creativity, character, culture, civic capacity, shared governance and student centeredness. I believe student centeredness is the trunk and the other components are the branches. Each component is connected to the other and they share common characteristics. For me teaching is about making the connection for students between the literature, writing, piece of art or media and their lives. Also, it is imperative that students understand why they are learning what is being presented to them.
