I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the best way to improve Mandarin is through speaking it. Therefore, I will stress on the oral portion more. I think reading and discussing about articles on different subjects is a good way to help students feel comfortable about speaking Chinese. I think geology is a subject that needs to be verbalized and visualized. Therefore, I will rely on graphics and dialogues with my students to help them familiarize themselves with geologic concepts.
I was born in Taiwan and grew up in Shanghai. I tutored English in Shanghai and tutored Mandarin at Wheaton College. The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects.
