Calculus I is one of my top subjects! I just received an A at Ball State University's calculus course which is the highest letter grade one can earn.

I like to teach as if I am one friend talking to another. I find that this is the most relaxed way to encourage learning. While a relaxed atmosphere is important, my parents (both elementary and high school teachers) showed me the importance of completing objectives. My teaching philosophy has developed through my experiences as a high school physics teacher, as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics at Texas Tech University, and through tutoring individual students. In my experience, high level of student participation is important. First, it allows students to at least start thinking towards a problem in their own way, and later start debating over what they have learned in the classroom. I try to encourage the class by carefully organizing my lectures. My teaching style is my tutoring style as I do mostly tutoring. I work with students to determine the missing math procedures or concepts. When a student misses a question, I do not simply show them the solution or correct answer. I solve the problem with the student (without looking at the answer) by discussing the approach (procedure) together. In this way, we share the approach to the solution and weak spots are revealed.
I have had a very successful career as an Engineer/Plant Manager. I changed careers and I am now Teaching/Tutoring. I teach/tutor High School math at an inter-city school (IPS). My ultimate professional goal is to become a statistics teacher at the university level.
