Learning Can be Fun!

I have tutored children in group and individual piano lessons. I have tutored them in math and social studies. I have spent over 20 years in business in the accounting field and prepared countless financial statements and income tax returns. I am skilled in all things mathematical. I also speak Spanish through over 9 years of instruction.
I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. I am fascinated with the concept that the more senses you utilize in teaching the better the child learns and retains what was taught. Some children respond to verbal teaching, while others prefer visual teaching, or others like to interact with their environment (the hands on approach). Each child has their own language. I believe that a teacher must do whatever is necessary to reach the student so that he can learn. Learning should be fun and enjoyable!
