My comments on tutoring American History : History can be incredibly boring - when it's taught in a boring manner. If you're having trouble paying attention in your American history class, send me an email! We'll use reframing, contextualization, alternative narratives, storytelling, and assorted other methods of engaging with content (and other long words) that should be REALLY AWESOME.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with kids of all ages. All children are unique and they all learn in different ways. I believe the most important key to teaching is having a passionate teacher. When a student has a teacher who is interested in the subject matter, they cannot help but be interested too. In regards to my favorite subject, history, I believe it is best taught by focusing on the ‘story’ aspect of it. When a student can learn the over-arching narrative and hear the inspiring stories of the men and women who have made history, the dates and details will readily follow. I have formally tutored with Madison College on two occasions lasting a year. I was also Tutoring throughout my time at Edgewood on a drop in basis with any students that came to the math department and could not reach a professor. I have a BS in Mathematics and doing math at all levels is fun for me.
I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way.
