Experienced, creative teacher who will make learning fun.

I have a very hands on approach because I worked with small children. I believe children learn by doing. If they are interested, you won't have behavior issues.
I spent one year as a day to day substitute teacher working all over York County in various special education classrooms. My second year was spent as a long term substitute at an alternative high school for boys where I taught all subjects. My third year I started teaching Specialized Preschool and did this for many years until I retired last year. My students had many exceptionalities. I had typical students visit my classroom every week to read to my students. I did leave Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 one year to teach in Baltimore, Maryland. I taught kindergarten-first grade to children with Autism and speech issues. I have 3 grown children of my own who I helped in school.

I have created award winning, five-star designs for clients such as the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Blast, Ripken Baseball, Yellowstone National Park and many more. Drawing is one of my top subjects! If you want to see my drawings for yourself, visit www.raspberryink.com

I have worked in the graphic design/advertising field for 10 years and have been drawing all my life. I run the gamut from Photoshop and Illustrator to pencil, charcoal and watercolor. I think it's important to know how to build a file well so that it is enabled for printing, while not compromising creativity. With drawing it is important to draw what you see before you can invent. Anatomy is important.
I like to draw students out with questions and get them thinking for themselves. In order to handle situations in the real world one needs appropriate problem solving skills. When I show something to a student I want them to repeat what I've just done and then explain why this works - but I want them to also try and find another way that will work. (If there is one)

It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging. I make sure the time and place are conducive to active and non-distractive learning. I relay the importance and relevance of the material. I recap previous lessons and try to integrate them into current assignments. I always value and respect people and expect the same of my students.
I have trained students in a laboratory, restaurant and in the home. I graduated from college with honors and have succeeded in statistics, algebra 2, calculus 1, biology 1, chemistry 1, English literature, professional writing, civics, sketching/painting and classical guitar

I have experience tutoring both young children and young adults in private and public settings. I spent a school year teaching two students in grades 2 and 5. I lived in their home in the Philippines and taught all subjects of an American curriculum. I have also tutored kids in a public school (South Ward Elementary School, Longview, TX). My job was to tutor kindergarteners who needed to learn English number recognition and placement, and to work with children in 5th grade who needed individual help to master math and reading skills. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History. During my time in college I developed my composition and research skills, and tutored college exchange students to help them develop these skills.
I enjoy teaching anyone regardless of his or her age and level of education. Patience and creative presentation are qualities that help me obse ... read more

I personally designed my undergraduate degree. I believe this shows the value I place on personal initiative in education. I have experience in teaching reading and writing to elementary school students. I also have experience tutoring my peers in reading, writing, art and literature. In my spare time I write fiction and creative non-fiction for a writer's group.
I am very personable and easy to get along with. My teaching style is relational. I think that students learn best when they are allowed to explore and find the tools that really work for them, I am happy to help students learn in this way and am very patient. I have high standards and believe in hard work and the pursuit of excellence.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love the art of teaching. I work with the student on an individual level, tailoring my methods to achieve maximum learning comprehension. Usually, I prefer to have the student figure things out for themselves using guided questions and logic. I feel that one of the most effective methods is, rather than lecture the student and provide the answer, I instead provide the basic materials of the problem and encourage them to figure things out progressively. I believe that anyone can learn if taught in the way that sits best with their learning style and thought processes. I hope to aid in creating a better future, laid foundationally by teachers that understand the way individual students learn.
In Full Sail, I was exposed to a style of teaching not unlike an automatic car wash; a quick brush through the curriculum, and the student was expected to come out knowledgeable about the ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent college graduate of Savannah College of Arts and Design, I have extensive experience with writing skills, leading and directing project based assignments and writing research papers, essays and critiques in my field. The varied classload I carried during my 4 years has more than prepared me for a tutoring position as I feel that all of my experiences with writing, psychology, various design and film communication art classes give me the skillset required to help students achieve their educational goals.
I am a demonstrative teacher and leader. I believe in the theory of "model, action, and talk" style of presentation of concepts. My creative background lends itself well to keeping a student's initiative and inspiration to a high level so that they are actually motivated to perform at their best. My personality traits are that I am disciplined and a believer in seeking ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four. My teaching style is to engage the student on a personal level through cheerful conversation and sharing of interests, then to assess learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Children perform well when expectations are complimentary to them, and when they are given the tools and nurture to accomplish their dreams.
I graduated from high school as number eleven in rank out of 248. I often assisted other students in both high school and college. Later, as a homeschooling mother of four, I taught all of my children all subjects through the eighth grade level. I just returned from the island of Saipa ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a genuine interest in the success of people. I am flexible and am willing to adapt to accommodate the student's learning style. Teaching is like a puzzle to me. I approach each student and subject with a fresh mind and find the style that will facilitate the highest level of achievement. I understand that sometimes learning in the classroom just isn't enough. A positive influence outside of the classroom is invaluable in the development of a child.
As part of the requirement to be a member of Pi Delta Phi, the French National Honor Society at UCF, I was required to tutor French students of all levels on a regular basis. I am hard working, patient and loyal. I gave the few children I have cared for and worked with a lot of wiggle room in order to express themselves. I feel like the less regulations and rules on an art assignment the more playful and creative the individual will be. you have to care about what you are doing before anyone else will.
I love children. While attending high school and college I babysat several children from four months old up to 13 years old. During My senior year of high school I was a teachers aid for A freshman level art class and would often work one on one with students who had questions or needed some extra help. I don't have any professional experience with teaching children but I would love to gain some.

A Little Bit About Me...

Currently, I am finishing my second year of teaching at the High School level. I teach 5 classes, grades 9-12, design the set designs for the school play, coordinate a 35 member art club and tutor reading and comprehension for the Reading School District. Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was in High School and I am blessed to say I love what I do. Currently, I have just finished graduate school and have received my M.A. Degree in Education.
My teaching style has derived from the many experiences that I have encountered. My student teaching experiences involved all grade levels K-12 and my current job involves grade levels 9-12 and 1st grade. I have also had the oppertunity to work with special needs students and gifted students. I enjoy teaching and working with all grade levels.
