My passion is to make a positive difference in the lives of every student that I teach. I understand that there is no cookie cutter pattern of children being educated, and I’m willing to work with each learning style. On a daily basis, I teach in a multi-level classroom, but I’m able to blend all learning styles into my lessons. I love helping my students understand concepts of any subject that has otherwise been difficult for them to grasp. I’m patient and willing to work at the pace that is comfortable for the student, because I understand that not all students learn at the same pace. I have faith in all of my students to reach their goals, and I’m willing to be that educator who made the difference in the students’ education.

I have worked in the Education field for 9 years. I started off as a substitute teacher and later became a "permanent substitute" in 2002. In this same year, I also became a class monitor for Psycho-Edu with the Johnson Co. School System. These jobs both required me to help teach elementary students in every subject.
My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I beleive that we all learn in different ways and a person should use a learning strategy that works best for them. I am available to help your child succeed academically. I have had much experience working with children of all ages in the Education Field as a Primary Teacher for Head Start and CIS after school program. I know that this is what I have been called to do and I enjoy doing.

I feel that all children can learn if they are given the chance and opportunity. Today’s children are faced with many pressures (peer, parental, social, etc) which can hinder and/or deter their academic chances. I am patient and I am able to make your child feel comfortable. I recognize that every child is different and their learning and information processing styles are different. I recognize and respect that and will not try to institute a “cookie cutter” style or “one-size-fits- ... read more

When it comes to my teaching style, I prefer to meet a student and take the first meetings to really get to know them, their learning styles and find out what goals we need to realistically set. After I have a goal in place I then like to work backwards and fill in the blanks of how we are going to achieve our goals. I have been known for my patience and creativity with my students. My goal is to make sure that my students know more then just the answer but be able to explain it as well. I am here to make a difference in all my students and their education and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am a firm believer that every child can learn in their own way and at their own pace. I incorporate differentiated instruction within each of my lessons to reach every type of learner. I believe that it is important for a teacher to recognize how each student learns and teach accordingly. I am very determined, yet patient, when it comes to students learning a new concept. I will try everything I can to help a student grasp a new concept. My two main goals are to ensure that the students are not only learning the material, but also understanding the material so that they can apply it and to provide students with knowledge that they can apply in the real world.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was in the Teacher Apprenticeship program from 2003-2004 at my high school, where I taught and tutored two classes of 8th grade students for my mentor teacher. In college, I proofread many papers for friends and did extensive legal research and writing, which continuously improved my writing ability. I vastly enjoy writing papers and performing research for academic purposes, especially on issues relating to international political affairs.
My teaching style is hands-on. I believe that while students gain knowledge through auditory and visual methods of learning, it is vital that they are given practical tasks that put their skills to use. I love seeing kids make mistakes with their work with the realization that they can overcome them through hard work and persistence. I am enthusiastic about education and how it creates endless opportunities for people seeking to make a positiv ... read more

Along with entertainment, we promoted learning and creativity, offering educational activities through science experiments, and expression through art projects, theme nights, and parades. I've taught English classes for kids/teens in Brazil, and led equestrian programs in Greece for troubled and disabled local children. Prior to leaving the US, I filled my passion tutoring “at risk” children after school in Buffalo, and working to develop language skills through cultural activities for families in Boston. I have a special talent for literature, writing, and art, but also love math and science.
