My comments on tutoring GED : I am a College Professor (History, Philosophy, Ethics, English) with many years of tutoring experience. I have been either a student or a teacher for most of my life. I have experience in a wide variety of settings with a wide variety of students. I started my teaching career in the primary grades, teaching first and second graders. I have experience working with adult students in a correctional setting and at the college level. I'm currently a teacher in and adult education program, working with ABE, ESL and GED students.
I think it is extremely important to understand different learning AND teaching styles. A teacher cannot present material in the same way every day. Some students can learn listening to a lecture. Some may prefer reading material. And yet others need more of a hands-on approach.
