I enjoy working with children. My volunteering experience with children at Grant Elementary gave me opportunity to realize how much I enjoy teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

In my Senior Honors study, I worked with a group of special needs children. I matched nontraditional learning methods to identify and develop talents and interests. I have taught music privately, for music stores, and taught and assisted with music in public and parochial schools. My teaching Internship was at Robbinsdale High School in art and commercial design. I served as Teaching Assistant to the Dean of Students while earning my Master's - emphasis was creative and professional writing skills. I licensed and administered preschools and day cares in my churches. I originated a heritage Theater troupe and taught through 21st Century Schools.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently enrolled in my last semester as an Accounting student at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Accounting will be the second degree that I have earned. I have a History BSE degree with a certification in Social Science from Minot State University. I think that the combination of these degrees me a very unique prospective in History, Accounting and especially Economics. My patience has been the reason many of my employers pick me to train in the new employees.
I have a lot of patience for people that are learning a new subject and my general demeanor is easy going. I teach through asking questions to bring the learner to the point of the lesson. I am able to breakdown harder lessons into smaller, more manageable lessons. Teachers complimented me on helping other students to learn the material.

I tend to teach things in a visual way. Drawing pictures, diagrams and using visual aides are the best ways I have witnessed to teach kids. I also think a structured reward system is HUGE in motivating kids to succeed. You need to find out what motivates your kid (money, toys, etc) and set up a system where he/she can earn these rewards through academic success.
I am currently a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Before I started medical school I worked as a tutor for six years with two teenage boys with autism. Under the six years of my tutoring, both of these "disabled" kids were completely mainstreamed and even taking some AP and challenge classes. I started college full time at the age of 16 and graduated with an associate and two bachelor degrees before my 20th birthday. I am currently completing a master degree and have maintained a 4.0 grade point average through all 6 years of college.
