Encouraging & Patient Elementary Tutor

I have grown up around kids my whole life. I am the oldest of four kids and my mom has a day-care in her home. I always thought I wanted to be a singer until I decided my junior year in high school I need to pick a more stable job. I took an internship my senior year of high school where I spent half the day at school and the other half as an intern in a Kindergarten class. After graduating High School early (Jan 2001) I did two semester at the University of Akron majoring in Political Science. After the events of 9/11 I enlisted in the US Navy (Jan 2002). I was trained at the prestigious Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey CA, with follow up training in Texas. I then spent the next years working as an Arabic linguist and Intelligence Analyst at a Joint Service Operation. I specialized in Iraqi and Syrian Dialects. By 2006 I was a shift NCOIC (Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, basically a supervisor). I left the service in 2008 with an honorable discharge and started working for the department of the army as a civilian but filling the same roll. In January of 2008, I was hired to work at the University of Akron – Wayne College Learning Center as a peer tutor. We are responsible for helping students that come in seeking tutoring (including test preparation and homework help). Over the past two plus years, I have tutored students in mathematics (college level basic math 1 through calculus one) and chemistry.
