As a graduate I have done tutoring to enhance my credibility to teach possibly in the future with my major in criminal justice. All students, regardless of race, gender, learning disability, socioeconomic status, and cultural group, are capable of learning, especially if they have a good teacher. As an educator, I believe that I must be willing to step outside the norm to meet the diverse needs of students, in order to effectively reach them. This implies that I try a variety of approaches. Good teaching involves starting at the child’s level. Teaching that is too confusing, or not challenging enough, will only be a disservice. Simply getting to know the students prior to teaching is a start.
