My comments on tutoring English ESOL : I have worked with more than 1 Korean student in my second semester of my first year of college, who were learning English as a second language. They do much better now than when they started out.

I have not tutored as an actual job ever, though I have done many other things that would be considered tutoring. I help my 12 year old nephew with his homework and have done so for about a year. I taught Sunday School at church for two years. My friends and other students have always come to me for help with essays and other English related assignments. Whether it be general proofreading, paragraph writing, paragraph flow, etc, that is the type of help I gave. I also have several Korean friends at college who are learning English as their second language, and one Finnish friend who learned English as her fifth language. I explain the basics to them, and help them learn English. I've learned that I do well in this field, and would like to continue with a paying job.

I believe my teaching style is very adaptive to the age and need of the learner, however, I require parental support, dedication, and willingness on the part of the student to make my tutoring approach successful. I believe we are all lifelong learners and with hard work and dedication can achieve any goal we have for ourselves. I do not see myself as very strict nor am I very lenient.
I have never tutored before, however, I have taught Sunday School for two years, I am currently volunteering at two Museums where I am engaged in educational activities, and I have experience in home schooling my 5th grader. I have just recently graduated from college and will begin my graduate studies this August. I have received a GPA of 3.89 and I am an excellent writer, editor, researcher, and test preper. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is extremely fluid. I've found that adapting classes to the unique needs and interests of each individual student is the best way to making a lasting impact on their educational growth.
A lifelong lover of reading, writing, and language in general, I supported myself through college by tutoring other students in Spanish and helping them edit/write their papers. Since then, I have tutored students between grades 6 and 12 in English related subjects, including spelling, vocabulary, and general writing. The past four months, I lived in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, where I spent two days a week tutoring local students in English as a second language, in addition to generally improving my Spanish skills.

I have helped children prepare for preschool through games and activities, and community college students brainstorm ideas for transfer essays. I am very organized, responsible and trustworthy. I have worked at a Montessori preschool and am comfortable using hands-on, creative methods for learning. Each student is different and learning approaches need to reflect that. I have worked with sensory-sensitive preschoolers, mentally challenged high school students, and ESL students ranging in age from 3 to 40. Whether they needed to learn how to tie their shoes, write an essay, the parts of an atom, how to use a conjunction, why the slope of a line is important, or how to write their name, I was there to help.
I worked at Moorpark College as an ESL and Writing Tutor, helping students discover ways to identify and clarify ideas, refine a topic, outline ideas, and develop the skills neede ... read more

I love teaching and working with students of all sages. I believe that you are never too old or too young to learn new skills, both academically and in life. I am able to help your student achieve academic success through the application of basic concepts in economics, finance, history or philosophy to the real world and using real world examples. Great teachers make great learners, I have had several in my life and I strive to emulate them in all of my teaching experiences.
As a graduate of a presigious liberal arts college, I was driven to a belief in life-long learning. As such I have been to graduate school twice, once in business and once in international relations, to gain an understanding of the world in which we live both in terms of economics and finance and through the study of foreign policy and the wider world. I became fluent in Spanish while on assignment in Spain in ... read more

Essential to learning is an environment that allows students to personalize and experiment with new-found knowledge, to enjoy the learning experience and to know that their instructor cares about their progress. Teaching methods are always tailored to student needs, and to meaningful activities for each student’s life and goals; activities engage students' cross-disciplinary and leisure interests, as well as their unique personalities and learning styles. We learn to “survive” in a second language, to make friends and talk about daily activities; and we learn to raise the level (written and oral) to academic and professional needs in both linguistic and social aspects of the culture.
I have taught and tutored second languages (French and Spanish) and English here and abroad with every age level, (including K-12, university and continuing education classes), have served as Director ... read more

I believe that it is the teacher's job to discover the true learning style of their students and when we do it is like unlocking a treasure chest of gold, so to speak. I enjoy teaching all the subjects in school and I enjoy the challenge of teaching children with learning disabilities and or emotional disabilities. I like to differentiate my instruction so that all students can access the curriculum and I keep track of my performance through regular assessments and using the RTI (Response to Intervention) process. I know how to teach reading and writing effectively studying under Dr. Elaine Cheesman from U.C.C.S. I highly value education and the pursuit of excellence. I especially value the ability to learn and speak a language other than one's native tongue; I am committed to helping individuals reach this goal. Knowledge of another language instills in us an appreciation for a world outside our own and it opens doors that would otherwise remain shut. I am also passionate about seeing people discover their full potential without basing their worth and identity in their failures or successes. If the end goal is not a letter grade but is rather in cultivating a love for learning and a love for oneself, you can never fail. You can only grow. Once people are unhindered by the fear of failure, there is endless potential to soar at school.
My undergraduate experience at Duke University taught me how to value and seek excellence in all of my educational endeavors. It also afforded me the opp ... read more

I have taught at-risk high schooler's and mentored and tutored them from freshman year to high school graduation.I tend to use the emotional intelligence model for teaching since everyone displays their strengths through various characteristics. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that it's very important to understand each individual child's learning style and consequently, teach accordingly. If he/she is more of an audio learner, I would use songs and sounds to teach them. If they learn by seeing and doing, I would want to find activities that connect to the subject being learned. I realize it takes patience and understanding to teach children. I am very patient and have a unique ability to connect with children. I love helping children achieve and believe a child needs a loving and patient teacher.
During my studies at Northwest Florida State, I was able to experience a total of 60 total hours in elementary and middle school classrooms. I learned various teaching techniques and styles, and also assisted in helping students in reading and math. In South Korea, I taught English as a foreign language for 16 months.
