I taught high school English for three years. My students ranged from far below basic to advanced. My comments on tutoring World History : I have taught this subject at both primary and secondary levels in my school district.

Interactive modeling of examples, repetition, and simplifying subject matter are key components of my teaching style. Many students have difficulty relating to academic material due the lack being given time to practice example assignments. I also teach universal strategies of how to study material to fully understand assignments.
I have worked as a Special Education Instructional Assistant for the past 8 years. I am currently attending school to become a special education teacher. I am a few years out of high school, and I've taken several college classes. My AP knowledge spans almost every subject. I can help with almost all high school level classes and below. The various sciences are probably my best subjects, however my knowledge of Biology is fairly limited. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Duke University in 2009 with a triple-major in Biomedical Engineering, Economics, and Mathematics. I have tutored in Economics and spent four years mentoring middle-schools students in Engineering as a Techtronics Fellow.
I have never been someone who "just gets it" when it comes to math or science, and so I understand more than many people who pursued degrees in these subjects just how puzzling they can be. Math seems like it is filled with "tricks" that seem impossible to know unless you were born with some innate gift. When I teach, I seek to show, step-by-step. how to think about a problem as more than a set of symbols on paper. I seek to impart the critical thinking skills that reveal why those tricks aren't tricks at all, but are instead a natural part of the grammar of math and science.
