A couple of hours of preparation beforehand can make the difference between a tedious, unproductive experience and one that encourages the student and makes the excited about learning. I try to help with sticking points and not to lecture. Both of my parents were teachers and I find myself sharing my knowledge with anyone who seems to need it.
