I love to incorporate art and sensory experiences into everything I do to really activate the brain. The "Drill and Kill" is very rarely appropriate, so I tailor every approach individually. What works for one student may not work with another. A Little Bit About Me...

My career in tutoring and teaching have been both diversified and rewarding. I have been able to help students develop educationally ranging from elementary school children to college seniors and young adults. Some of my assistance has been delivered through such programs as No Child Left Behind and reading and comprehension programs. Throughout my career, I have been able to reach students at where they were to help them get to where they needed to reach. I have worked with college students in the past, working with comprehensive learning and mathematics. I learned that each student understands in their own personal way; some learn by seeing something concrete and for others it is working through the steps in the problem that helps them understand. I have also had the experience of teaching a freshman seminar class where the focus was finding the students strong point or drive and having them research their major or likes to find what job fields might fit them well.
I love teaching all ages, but have experience working with college freshman. Over the last 12 years I have taught children in most settings. I also have experience tutoring adults in math. My current job is working with children who have cognitive disabilities and supporting their families. I graduated from Prince George's Community college with an Associate's degree and from Bowie State University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program for counseling.
Dedicated, patient, caring and knowledgeable are all the characteristcs that I would want in a tutor. Those are definitely characteristics that describe me. I have worked with children for the past 12 years in settings from private, public and special needs population. I enjoy working with children and teaching.
