I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. I feel that young students learn best when they can physically learn, such as through blocks/puzzles/interactive learning devices and other similar approaches. I try to let the student use their hands as much as I can to aid in their learning process. For older students such as my high school students or their college counterparts I use more direct audial teaching and visual teaching styles. I like to take the "mystery" out of the subject. Math can be especially scary to students who don't have a strong foundation in general mathematics and reading comprehension. I am currently volunteer tutoring an adult friend in general math and I am proud to say that her understanding of the basic principles have increased dramatically in only a couple of sessions.
