I started teaching Sunday School when I was in Junior High. I taught a little boy in my class how to read and it was the most rewarding experience I have ever encountered. As aforementioned, throughout high school, I began tutoring students in Math, English, Spanish, Science, and History. I tutored one 6th grade student who was ADHD. He had several tutors before me, but none had the patience to work with him. I started tutoring him and fell in love with this particular child. I believe in using the differentiated approach to teaching--based upon the seven intelligences. I plan for all lessons being taught, and state the objectives on the board for each lesson. I present the lesson, allowing the students to interact and respond by activating prior knowledge, discussing points and inviting them to ask questions. I like to interject related activities at 20-30 minute intervals to keep their interest up. I also like to provide centering and closing activities.
