A Little Bit About Me...

I have been substitute teaching for four years for all grades and all subjects. I have been tutoring in my home for two years all grades in mainly mathematics. I have trained students in cognitive thinking skills at Learning RX for 2 years. I have three children of my own, two in college and one is a senior in high school. I was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years and I have worked with my children in of all their subjects. I earned my AS in Mathematics in 2003 and my BS in Secondary Education in 2006.
I have a passion for children and mathematics. I am a very positive person with a high level of energy. I enjoy teaching mathematics and have a deep love for what can be gained from having an understanding and appreciation of math. I also understand that math is not everyone's favorite subject. With that in mind my goal is for everyone that I teach or tutor to have enough of an understanding to appreciate its usefulness. When I teach I utilize several different teaching strategies to ensure that I reach as many of my students as possible. As a tutor I am able to use these strategies and more. When it comes to math, I believe that everyone can have a fundamental understanding of the concepts. There are several methods used to solve problems and when tutoring small groups or one-on-one it is easier to find which method suits them best.
