Part of the advantage I have as a math tutor in particular is the fact that I failed math miserably in highschool myself. I have only learned what I know because I was bound and determined not to let any subject get the best of me. Unlike many math teachers who naturally understand math, I have the benefit of understanding precisely why students don't understand and the patience to explain a topic as many different ways as possible until the student and I hit on a way that works.

I have also taught Head Start, fourth grade, third through eighth grade science, and kindergarten through eighth grade music. I earned my Master’s degree in Classroom Education with an emphasis in MS Language Arts. Desiring to help as many students as possible, I continued taking classes toward a Reading Specialist’s degree. Teaching is a wonderful experience! My teaching style is laid-back, I'd say. I like having conversations in order to determine how someone learns. I think people learn best when discussing the material and really think it out before they start creating something. Guiding a student down the path of their own learning style is important because they will need those skills in the future when they go off to college or start a career on their own.
