My teaching style is to first evaluate the extent of the student's knowledge in the specific subject area and then start from the beginning and brush up, filling the gaps in knowledge. I work quite well with non-traditional learners and use props when I need to. Sometimes I find that this is the best approach for visual learners. I graduated from Monmouth College in 2007 with a BA in Spanish and a minor in English. I took all of the Education coursework there for secondary Education. I've taught Spanish one year at the University of Iowa. During this year I also worked in the writing lab, a service provided for undergraduate students who need help throughout the writing process. I have always had a strong appreciation for education and learning new things. My educational experience was strengthened when I attended Cornell College, which has a strong liberal arts program. I immediately took an interest in the sciences and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Pre-medicine. My education was additionally complimented when I immersed myself in several language, mathematic, English, and humanity courses, which gave me a strong diversity in the liberal arts curriculum. I recently obtained my BS in Marketing along with a minor in Animal Science from Iowa State University. I was very involved with volunteer activities as a high school student, one of which involved tutoring elementary age children in the areas of reading and writing. I have long excelled in these areas, scoring nearly a perfect in the reading and writing sections on my ACT and working in advanced english courses throughout high school.
