A Little Bit About Me...

Most of my primary education experience involved me in music. I played the piano for 16 years, cello for 9 and self taught the violin and some other instruments. I prefer tutoring with stringed instruments. I then transitioned to sports like tennis and soccer. In college, after changing degrees a couple times, I graduated with a BS in Biology, minored in Chemistry with a Pre-Med certificate. Currently I am working on my own to sell patents with an Israeli scientist. On the side, I study Russian and Hebrew.
I have private tutored almost all throughout college, mostly because I had many international friends in desperate need for English help. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching approach is mainly student-oriented. ESL is a practical subject and a lot of lecturing doesn't help. I let my students experience the language by speaking, listening, reading and writing. I use critique for writing and peer correction for oral skills. I strive to present grammar points through examples and have students deduce the rules. In tutoring, I usually work on error correction and address the individual's weaknesses while enhancing his or her strengths.
I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring ESL at the college, school, and adult education level.
