I am a recent graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in Music Education. While at North Texas, I taught middle and high school-aged students the art of music. During the summer I graduated, I tutored elementary and middle school-aged children reading and math. These experiences have helped me to gain different teaching skills and how to teach students with different learning capabilities. I like to teach on an individual basis because I can focus on a single student who has a unique way of learning. I can cater to this student and help him/her in exactly the way he/she needs. During my high school years I would volunteer to help children through various charities and church. When I attended college I became an Early Childhood Education major and volunteered in preschool and elementary schools. During my Student Teaching in Des Plaines I was in complete control of a Kindergarten classroom and later a 2nd Grade class. After graduating I began working in a daycare where I created activities for children as young as 3 years old and activities and homework help for elementary students as old as 13.
When I am teaching I am very patient and try to organize the lesson or my assistance in steps. I'll have the child read the problem or question, ask what they know about it, see if they understand the question and proceed.
