My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I have worked as a "Student Advocate" as well as "Paraeducator" in Provo School District, and "Behavioral Program Implementor" for Butterfly Effects. My job tasks were: As Student Advocate: -Work with at-risk elementary children, focusing on those who were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. -Motivate children to learn and improve their conditions. -Meet with students one on one, in group settings, and classroom presentations on character building lessons. -Behavioral management and discipline plans -Keep track on truancy problems -Conduct Suicide Prevention Groups. As Paraeducator: -Help elementary students from 2nd grade to 6th grade in their writing and reading skills. -Work with students who have moderate to severe disabilities. -Teaching functional and academic skills. -Use appropriate techniques for student and classroom management. -Direct small groups of students in various areas of academics. As Behavioral Program Implementor: -Provided behavior intervention to children with autism and other related disabilities. -Implemented behavior reduction and skill acquisition programs as well as assisted consultants with functional behavior assessments and parental training. -Supported the child in his/her natural environment, helping to participate in daily living and community based activities.

I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others to learn. I don't believe in "I can't do it" or "I can't learn". I believe that anyone can learn anything as long as they're willing to learn and put an effort to do so. What is different is that some people have more ability than other to learn certain tasks, but eventually, everyone can learn. It is all a matter of adapting oneself to the student's need and ability to learn. My goal is to make the student learn what they set up their mind to learn in the first place, and help them improve their condition. It is very rewarding to see that you have made a difference in their lives.
Having parents that place a great emphasis in achieving higher education, I graduated from high school with the age of 15 years old and was accepted in National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, for the degree in Life Science Biology. While studying in T ... read more

Diverse background

Each individual has a distinct learning style which must be recognized in order to promote and facilitate better learning and achievement, it is essential that a teaching style in the format of tutoring match the students learning style.
Have experience in all subjects listed as I have completed these courses myself; as a communications major I've worked in public relations and media though I have extensive freelance writing experience. Prior career experience includes non profit and healthcare related management as well as other positions which I believe have been important in obtaining the abilities needed to communicate successfully in many ways; this will directly assist me in tutoring though this is a new area for me outside of my home.

ADD/ADHD is one of my top subjects!

I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. There are thousands of educators, but only a few real teachers who can get a message across in such a way that the student doesn't just do the work, they UNDERSTAND what they're doing and why. As far as I'm concerned, if a student doesn't learn something, it's not because he didn't try. It's because I failed to teach him i ... read more

...to inspire change

I enjoy working with children. I believe that all children have their own hidden potential and need the right kind of motivation to inspire them to be the best they can be. Educators are given the opportunity to motivate, inspire, and change the lives of young people. This opportunity should be taken seriously because the greatest legacy we can leave is the impartation of knowledge that motivate others to positively change their lives. have been committed to counseling and mentoring children. I have been a SES tutor for the past two years, and for the past five years, I have also taught adult learners seeking to improve their lives.

A Little Bit About Me...

Hello, I have been a teacher in central Florida for 6 years. I have always taught at the middle school leve, although my student teaching was done at the High school level. Prior to becoming a teacher I served 5 years in the U.S. Navy. I have also worked with Juinor Acheivement and the Boys and Girls club of America.
My belief is in the child. I am extremely patient and loving. The child sets the pace at which we learn and we would not move on to the next subject until the child completely understands the material.

I love working with children who need a little extra support. The proud look of accomplishment children who struggle have when they succeed is very rewarding. For a student to really understand a math they need to learn the concept not just the formula. Many times this means taking the abstract and making them as concrete as possible. Every student can learn with some modifications and a little extra work.
My first teaching experience came from tutoring my own daughter who has a learning disability. This experience has taught me to see first hand the difficulties children can have learning new concepts. Happily my daughter graduated from Keiser University with honors. I also teach a High School Geometry and Algebra Two class. Students and parents have both expressed that my warm nature and straight forward explanations have made learning difficult concepts much easier.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a SUNY Oneonta graduate, I sought to continue my goal of becoming an elementary school teacer. I became employed in Schenectady city school district, working in a magnet school for almost two years. As a first grade teacher, I became very experienced and well versed in balanced literacy frameworks. This passed year, all 22 of my students showed impressive gains in their reading/phonics skills assessment based on Fountas and Pinnell, that I was required to give three times a year. Most of my students began the first grade unable to read at level A, which is the beginning of Kindergarten. By the end of first grade, 90% of my students were reading at the beginning of second grade level.
I believe that children are life-long learners and that they continue to learn long after they leave a school setting. Children all learn in different ways, but I believe they are all capable of lea ... read more
