A Little Bit About Me...

I studied Mechanical Engineering at Forsyth Technical Community College and I have over 1000 hours of experience using CAD in an engineering office. I am proficient in the latest releases of AutoCAD, Pro-Engineer (which is now Creo Elements) and Solidworks, as well as Google sketch up which is a very useful tool in engineering applications.
I think everyone has a unique way of learning and first you have to understand how you learn best. I teach in a way the fits the individual and to provide fun, productive and challenging sessions to give students a sharp edge in facing today's work force.

Turning your weakness into your strength

I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.
I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"

More About This Tutor...

I begin by observing the person. In which areas are they confident and strong? In which areas are they fearful and using avoidance? I then find a bridge from their place of confidence to their place of fear and coax them across until they are happily skipping across. This may take some time, but I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to completed work. I want to leave the person with the ability to complete it well and on their own the next time. Speed can be developed after mastery.
Education has been a priority for me my whole life. I first began tutoring college students in Math while still in college and have always been willing to teach or train anyone who needed it in my personal life or in a professional capacity.
