I am a recent graduate of the Master in Teaching program at The Evergreen State College. I am a certified teacher in Washington state, endorsed to teach reading, writing, math and science K-8. Through my studies and student teaching experiences, I have worked with primarily first through fifth graders. In the realm of tutoring, I have experience tutoring struggling first through 5th grade readers in the Washington Reading Corps program. My students have said that I make them feel comfortable and intelligent. I prefer students from age 9 to 99, and love to find that place in them that brings out the learner in them. I'm not a hard task master, yet in my casual approach is an eagerness to help my students learn that is infectious. I truly love to teach and I know it shows.
Most recently I have been tutoring college students in algebra and helping dyslexic students write reports and comprehend written material. I have taught and tutored all phases of a massage program, including anatomy, physiology and pathology. Teaching ESL to all ages throughout my life including people from Mexico, Japan and Thailand is also something I've enjoyed doing. I've homeschooled high school students in a huge variety of coursework, and taught health, math, English and physical education in two private schools.
