My main experience teaching has been various science courses but I have also taught math and reading. I began my education thinking I would be an elementary school teacher but then discovered my love of science so I took additional classes while completing my Master's so I could be certified to teach science. I use praise when warranted but am firm on deadlines and honesty. Aware of attention span, I take appropriate breaks or switch to another subject. I would say that all people are capable of learning and improving their abilities, knowledge, and skill. My experience has been that if a child, youth, or adult is given the space in which to learn, and introduced to material in a patient manner, in the style that works for them (be that through explanation or visual learning, etc) they will take the initiative to learn and grow at the pace and direction which works for them.
