A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and coaching students to excel is a gift, and I was blessed with that gift. I believe in teaching students in the manner in which they learn--whether they are visual, auditory, or a combination of both. I believe in tailoring my teaching style to the particular style that is best suited for the individual student by trying different approaches until finding the approach that is successful. I believe this approach can be used in a classroom as well as in a one-on-one situation.
My experience working in a local high school--as the school bookkeeper, as a substitute teacher, and as the cheerleader coach has given me the skills I need to teach and tutor others. I finished my BA with concentrations in management and accounting at Troy University in 2007,then worked for three years in an Accounting Office. I left there in January 2010 to pursue my Masters in Accounting. I gained valuable experience in reading, writing and the application of mathematical formulas through working in a fast paced accounting office. I supervised one to three employees, trained them and audited their work. I have never officially tutored a student, but I have trained employees on accounting principals and how to write to the IRS and clients, as well as helping out friends and fellow students. I would like to tutor in reading, writing, history, business, and math.

As a graduate student in Sociology at Wichita State University, I was able to explore my passion for human behavior with great detail and rigor. During this time, I was able to use SPSS extensively for statistics and data analysis for Crosstabs, Frequencies, T-tests, ANOVA, Correlations, Descriptives, Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, OLS Regression, and Weights. I also served as a graduate teaching and research assistant, which allowed me to tutor students on how to use SPSS while also applying SPSS for research projects and program evaluation.
