I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. My jobs included: private secretary to a County Judge, bookkeeper, loan processor for a savings and loan, receptionist, cashier, manager, assistant librarian and owner of an electric motor repair business. These experiences have given me a wide under-standing of the business world and of the different personalities of people. I have also been a substitute teacher in several different subjects.

I have had seven years of experience in working with children of all ages. While attending the University of North Dakota, I was employed at a child care center where I taught children from nine months to five years of age. I completed my student teaching in Sioux Falls and substitute taught in the district from December 2007-May 2008. During my substitute teaching experience, I was given an opportunity to obtain a long-term position in a resource room. I believe that children learn best when they are given confidence and support in every step they take. Having grown up with a family of educators, there was never any doubt I would become a teacher. I hold a MS degree in Educational Administration and a BS degree in English and have taught 26 years of high school, primarily seniors.
