In undergrad, I was somewhat of a perfectionist looking for a way to help others. I found that being a tutor and a supplemental instructor allowed me to help others in ways I could never imagine. I became a California Reading and Learning Certified tutor and supplemental instructor in 2008 with a program called the Center for Academic Success at the small liberal arts college I was attending and recieved students asking for help in classes including english, college writing seminars, chemistry, and math. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Kansas State, I was tasked not only with teaching mathematics in a classroom setting, but also in a more personal setting. Part of my duties included being available to briefly tutor students (ranging from basic math through Introductory Differential Equations) one on one in the Math Help Room.
Let's face it; most students do not want to be in a math class.
