I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. I try showing different ways of looking at something so the child will understand one way or another. I stress creativity and working things out for yourself as that is needed in life.

We are responsible for helping students that come in seeking tutoring (including test preparation and homework help). Over the past two plus years, I have tutored students in mathematics (college level basic math 1 through calculus one) and chemistry. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping students understand mathematics. Math can be challenging, but when it is finally understood it can be extremely rewarding. I firmly believe that the key to mastering math is by repetition of examples rather than by studying complex theories.
