My approach to teaching biological and chemical sciences is two-pronged: to help students acquire the knowledge base necessary for understanding science, and to instill critical thinking skills through the scientific method of inquiry. I love to help students see the big picture of how various aspects of science fit together and to make connections between what they are learning and their own lives. A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering. I have taken extensive courses in math and science. Math and science are fields that I love and excel at. While in undergrad I was active in many student organizations and volunteer opportunities. I volunteered at science olympiad for a year and also tutored middle school students. I have many younger siblings, all of whom I have helped with homework on several occasions.
There is no better moment that when a child becomes engaged and starts understanding and asking questions. Once a child starts asking questions you know that they are excited about it and want to learn. When teaching my goal is always to get children excited about what they are doing and then proceed from there. All children have different strengths and I try to work from those strengths.

I love teaching in a hands on style in which the student not only has an algorithm of how to solve a specific problem, but has a thorough understanding of the concepts behind the algorithm. I enjoy having analogies or hands-on activities to demonstrate the concepts. I believe that many times people understand the basic concepts from physics in their daily life, but are frightened by equations.
