Hearing Impaired is one of my top subjects! Providing tutoring for those interested in learning sign language. I am a verbal Deaf user of Sign Language.

My focus is teaching/tutoring American Sign Language. My experience includes teaching Sign Language classes in ministries, providing Mom and Child lessons, and Providing lessons for early childhood facilities. After building your vocabulary of signed English, we can them move on to learning the language. This stage will include attending Deaf functions to have opportunities to meet and chat with others who are Deaf.

My philosophy is that education should be as individualized as possible because people do not learn in the same manner. For instance, some people are visual learners while others, like myself, are auditory learners. I strongly believe that educators should expose their students to as many fields and ideas as possible. For instance, when I am teaching, I prefer to instruct students on different topics- biology, culture and rules of the English language are particular favorites of mine. I also like to give ideas and explanations that are different than my own (when teaching abstract concepts, of course) so that students can formulate their own opinions.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Hartford. I have a dual certification in Special Education and Elementary Education. I have taught in both Urban and Suburban areas in grades K, 1, 2,5,6, and 7. I have also tutored children in grade 4 and peers at the college level. I have tutored all elementary subjects and at the college level I have tutored in English and World History.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have two college degrees in different areas. I'm interested in meeting new people who have interests into learning sign language. I have three years of teaching experience with the deaf and other individuals who have varies of disabilities. I've taught many people sign language on the side. I also run a Sign Language group that meets to practice and socialize.

During the past four years of my undergraduate study, I have been given many opportunities to work and explore outside of my degree in piano performance.
