I have 10 years experience teaching high school mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, algebra 2) and 6 years experience teaching mathematics at the community college level. I also spent 2 years teaching basic IT (community college). AdDitionally, I have ACT & SAT test prep experience with Kaplan. I have tutored ages 8 - 20. I seek to find out how a student learns best very early in our session and then gear my instruction/tutoring to the student's individual learning style to best meet their needs and goals.

Because I went through the accelerated program I understand the need of hands on activities and alternative learning styles. I bring these into my teaching. I also am a firm believer that doing a lot of problems is the best way to get good at a subject, especially math. I am a high school senior and have been tutoring peers since middle school. Because I am so young I have very few official tutoring hours, however I do mentor freshmen through our highschool EAP program and younger girls through the STEM program. I work well with students in 6th grade and higher. My strong subjects are in math. I self-studied and tested out of Geometry as an 8th grader and am currently in AP Calc 2. I have 33 college credits ranging in every category from English to Math. I have 33 in math on my ACT and have a very strong understanding of the concepts it presents.

I have been tutoring students of all ages since I was in high school. I began by tutoring my own peers in math and social studies. I would also tutor children from 1st grade on up in all subjects. Once in college, I tutored college students and younger in many fields, primarily mathematics courses. My specialty quickly became preparation for standardized tests as well as calculus because I have a unique ability to discover how each student learns and tailor the lessons to their needs. I then moved on to college where I studied math and computer science. I was a teaching assistant for Calculus I and II. My responsibilities included leading group tutorials and working one on one in the tutoring center on campus. At graduate school I taught Calculus I, II, and III as a standalone lecturer. After I graduated from the University of Chicago I was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
