Elementary Tutor and Student Development

My teaching experience includes several semesters of substitute teaching, and tutoring locally for 2+ years as a part-time job, dirived from volunteering as a tutor for family members and friends. As a tutor, it is my job to help students with whatever it is they are struggling in and turn their struggles to successes. I have been working with students in a reading program at a Title I school for 2 years; working with second language students teaching them the English language. I have taught Math and Science for 4th and 5 grade using the Foss system. The Science program was a hands on experiments, writing and keeping a science notebook. Evaluations were given at the end of each lesson segment involving the Foss Systems. Taught 3rd grade all subject for 5 years teaching all subjects. I have been recognized for classroom management above expectations for the school. Students were taught with creativity and experience using hands on manipulatives and differenciated lessons. I am presently teaching 2nd grade, all subjects and also using the Foss Systems for science, Investigations for math in which many manipulitves are used to promote a higher level of thinking.

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

Helping others is something that I have always enjoyed doing. While, I may not have the qualifications stating that I can tutor someone, I do have the ability and do have experience in training people at my previous employment. I think that it takes a lot of patience to be able to train or tutor someone and that is something that I possess. A great tutor needs to be able to listen to the person that they are tutoring and be able to adjust the tutoring to fit their way of learning.
