My teaching style varies depending on the student. Perhaps my biggest asset is empathy as I can easily tell when a student (or group) gets it. Thus, I do not waste time telling students what they already know, and I can back up and explain in more detail when necessary. I have a kind of fluency in math, science, and language such that I pride myself on being able to explain any topic to any person.
I have taught Medical Neuroanatomy to medical students at the University of Iowa Medical School. Students were directed in dissecting and identifying parts of the human brain. My experience includes earning a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and a master's degree in psychology. Everyone has style of teaching that is unique. Mine is at first appearance very laid back, but on closer inspection is very powerful and extremely effective in the long run. My strategy as a teacher is to study and assess a student first, then to develop a plan with the student regarding how we should approach a task or problem. A Little Bit About Me...

Working with children has always been somewhat natural to me, probably due to the fact I spent so many of my summers teaching, playing, and caring for them. I was a camp counselor for five summers and my primary duty was the classroom. I was in charge of arts and crafts and teaching lessons/themes of the week. The children I worked with were ages three through eight, and two of the children were autistic. Constructive criticism and co-operative learning learning are very important to me. I feel that visual and kinesthetic teaching methods are the most successful.
