As a youth I desired to become a teacher. I come from a long line of classroom teachers. My mother is a teacher, my grandfather was a professor at the University of Florida, and both great-grandmothers were educators as well. I have experience working with children since in high school where I worked summer camps, in college working with after school programs and tutoring those students, to graduating college and implementing teaching strategies in my own classroom. My teaching style is very specific to each student I tutor. I try to tailor my thoughts so that any student at any level in the subject can understand me. At the teaching center, the focus was to help guide the student to get the correct answer and not just give the answer. Sometimes the thinking process to achieving the correct answer is more important than the answer itself. I also try using diagrams and figures when they are called for to explain some of the topics. I frequently use positive reinforcement so the student feels even more encouraged to learn.
As a microbiology student, I have taken rigorous courses in the sciences as well as math.
