A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and have wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. Each student is different in how they learn the material needed for class and I find it to be very important to teach the student in the method that works best for them. I communicate very easily with students, I am very patient, and I above all care about the student.
While pursuing my BA accounting and BA in business finance at Wilmington College, I was very involved in tutoring other students at the college. At Wilmington College, we had supplemental instruction which is basically a group tutoring session where the leader is chosen by the professor teaching the course. Graduated from wright state university in 1993 with a bachelors of science degree in mechanical engineering. I have worked the past 16 years in the automotive industry mainly as a manufacturing supervisor. Also, since high school have volunteered abd served on 2 fire departments as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. I enjoy teaching young adults the education and work experiences I have obtained the past 20 years.

I truly miss teaching and mentoring kids. I approach teaching as an opportunity to bring out the maximum potential within each student. I am a firm believer each student views learning differently, meaning as educators we need to ensure no student is left behind. I take a hands-on approach to education, stressing the importance of real life experiences. We should illustate to students how "what is learned today will become practical later in life."
Upon the completion of my undergraduate studies, I was encouraged to sign up as a substitute teacher. This subsequently led to a full time position, where I taught Junior High Mathematics. I also coached wrestling and mentored the Quiz Bowl team.
