My primary objective is for the students I teach to understand the concepts and do as well as they are capable in the courses. In addition, I want the students I teach to develop critical thinking and the ability to problem solve. I can accomplish this by being knowledgeable, citing examples and answering questions in a way that can help them to better understand the subject matter. I will generally include a number of early background lectures to make sure all the students start off at the same point.
I worked as a Chemistry lab TA in college and I taught the labs. As a graduate student I trained other grad students and techs, often taking them through 10 to 12 weeks of continuous mentoring. I have always wanted to teach. When I was a child I would round up the kids in my neighborhood and make them do lessons that I created. I do remember they did not like that. I went to college and earned a BS in Biology always knowing that I would eventually teach the sciences.
