A Little Bit About Me...

I am completing my MA in Secondary Education from the University Phoenix (Online), needing only a student teaching assignment in the field of secondary mathematics to complete all the degree requirements . I currently hold a BA in Computer Science from Hood College. Prior to pursuing a career in education, I spent 30 years in the aerospace industry managing engineering development programs. During my degree pursuit, I have spent time in middle school and secondary school classrooms both as an observer, and substitute teacher. I believe my combination of a strong content knowledge, advance degree in education, and extensive aerospace experience places me in a strong position to make a valuable contribution to secondary education.

A Little Bit About Me...

My broad-based educational background gives me a firm foundation for interacting with students on a variety of levels. I have taught both French and Mathematics at the college level, have tutored Math, Physics and Chemistry at the college level, and have substituted in high schools and junior highs as well. As a research mathematician with GE, I have explained mathematical concepts to adults with a wide range of backgrounds.
No one teaching style works with all students, or even a majority of them. I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to make academic subjects interesting and relevant to different students. I usually use a combination of guided discovery, question-and-answer, and hands-on approaches to teaching and learning.
