I taught advanced high school mathematics at McKinney Christian Academy for five years (2005 - 2010). This involved the following classes: AP Calculus AB, Honors PreCalculus, and Advanced Algebra II. In addition, I have tutored students for the PSAT Math, ACT Math, SAT Math, SAT-1 Math, and SAT-2 Math.
I have a calm, amiable personality and achieve results by being enthusiastic and building up students so that they feel good about their math abilities. I like to explain math concepts via visual aids (graphs, pictures, charts, diagrams) and an extensive number of examples.

A Little Bit About Me...

I majored in math at Ohio state university in Columbus, Ohio. I was a resident advisor and resident manager while in college and tutored several students voluntarily in the resident halls and libraries. I also worked as a part time nanny and helped the children with homework. After graduation I was offered a job at an early learning center in Columbus where I worked as a preschool teacher for 2 years. I tutored throughout my time there during the after school program with elementary level students. I love math and it is a subject that has always been easy for me. I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.
I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.

While in the Air Force I was an instructor for the Space Operations School in Colorado Springs. This gave me the opportunity to go through many classes on how to instruct various types of students.
