A Little Bit About Me...

I have discovered that every students is capable of achieving greatness if someone will take the time and effort to learn their learning style. I pride myself in being able to break things down to the most basic levels if necessary in order to reach a student. Often you have to know a child's personality, background, and home life in order to understand what he or she relates to. I don't believe in teaching a subject, I believe in teaching a student. I also do not believe in giving up. If the first method doesn't work then we will continue to try until something clicks and that child grasps the material and excels at it.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool. I then went back part time and taught 4 K until my 3rd child was born in 2005. Throughout this entire time I tutored various children ages 8 - 15 years if age.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Chemical Engineer I have a diverse set of skills upon which to draw upon for a variety of subjects. As a substitute teacher, I have been called upon to engage students on a one-on-one basis in the classroom at both the middle and high school level. I know first hand that most students just need a little more coaching outside the classroom to raise their level of excellence. I college I tutored my fraternal brothers in chemistry, free of charge. I received a bachelors degree from The University of Memphis in integrative studies in the fall of 2009. Upon graduation, I was required to complete two semesters of student teaching. Also, during my four years of college, I tutored three different students, one in reading and the other two in English. From August 2009 through January 2011, I was employed at a child care facility where I was director but spent most of my time tutoring and assisting the after school kids with their homework and projects.
