Highly Qualified Certified Master Teacher

As mentioned in my earlier description, I have eighteen years experience as an educator. I have taught students of all ages from early childhood through college and non-traditional adult education. I believe in making learning fun and engaging by relating concepts to points of interest for the individual student.
Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice. I have been told that I am gifted with presenting material in novel ways.

I believe that children should not be taught with the expectations of failing. I go to the extreme, my students are taught by me to reach for the stars and go for the gusto. Every child has the ability to learn and as their teacher/tutor no matter how long it takes, I will get my future leaders of tomororw there.

I have earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education and tutored and written curriculum for over 15 years. I currently have five years of teaching experience. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS degree from the University of South Florida in the fall of 2005. When teaching first grade, I was responsible for educating children ages 6-8 in all of the fundamental areas. I managed to create a loving, encouraging and educationally exciting learning environment for each and every one of my students on a daily basis. I was also responsible for maintaining student portfolios to monitor their academic growth, conferencing with parents weekly via student agendas, parent teacher meetings and through conference phone calls.
I believe that every child has a different manner of obtaining and learning information and it is the instructor's duty to identify each student's learning style and to teach accordingly. Think of a key ring with all sorts of different keys on the ring. As a teacher you must t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. Incorporating all aspects into my teaching style assists the retention of the material. It also has to be relatable to the student, so we have to use relevant examples that they understand. All children can learn any subject if you can spark their interest. There is no better feeling than seeing the light turn on and the sense of accomplishment in a child's eyes.
I have completed all courses for my Associates Degree and was a trainer at my previous position. When in high school, I was a college preparatory student and graduated with a high school Diploma as well as 12 Advanced Placement courses and completed my International Baccalaureate diploma.

My industry is nuclear. I have taken many opportunities to speak with students about considering the nuclear field and sharing my own experiences in the industry.
My teaching style is adaptive. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn. The approach to learning is what makes the difference. Being a mother, I love children and am very patient. I also know that kids have their own distinct personalities and I address each chi ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in having students thank the teacher after a class. I like to work with small groups and encourage these groups to explore and teach each other from my leading. Sometimes however, extraneous issues prevent students from learning adequately at school and I welcome the opportunity to supplement this education with one on one or group tutoring.
I was raised as a bilingual speaker, Italian & English, and was always fascinated by the workings of language.
