Learning and teaching is my passion. In high school it ws teachers with the same passion that made learning fun and encouraged me to achieve academic success. I graduated in the top ten of my high school class at Utica Free Academy. I had the highest mathematics average. I attended Williams College in Williamstown Mass and studied economics, studio art, and creative writing. Following graduation with a BA degree in 1981, I worked for two seasons as a substitute high school and middle schoolteacher. I covered math, science, English, and the arts, as well as phys ed. All children are students; they can learn. The question is how best do they learn? I have used many differing styles from rote memorization through self-paced self-education. I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. A higher level student would solve multiple linear equations. A height vs. time linear relationship then can become quadratic, thus involving sports as an application.

They have various programmed learning booklets teaching all of the major subjects. You are actually more of a tutor than a teacher if you work with these booklets. I have experience in the four major areas of learning which are English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I was with students from first through twelfth grade. While I was college I had occasion to take two years of college level English and also statistics up through 600 level. I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist. I have worked at a few different jobs and just went back to college again at Utica School of Commerce and got my certificate degree as a Medical Office Assistant.

I began teaching in fifth grade when my science teacher conceded that I knew more about sharks than he did, so when we got to that lesson, I took over for two days. In tenth grade, I had an internship at my high school teaching ninth grade Global Studies. When I graduated college, I began substitute teaching while I wrote my first few novels. Before I begin to teach I like to attempt to understand how much the student comprehends about the particular subject. I prefer to teach globally and with examples.
