B.A. in English, Liberal Arts from The College of New Jersey. Experienced Reporter, specializing in news and feature stories. Experienced Editor/Proofreader, specializing in Associated Press (AP) style. At the moment, I am working for the Professional Service Group of Central New Jersey as a Managing Editor of their Multi-Author Blog (MAB). I come up with story ideas and assign them to Writers. I edit articles, write headlines, work closely with the Layout Editor to make sure the articles are formatted correctly online.
I will use examples to teach. I will provide students with examples of the correct and incorrect ways to write a sentence. I will show pupils how to proofread their work for spelling and grammatical errors so that they do not rely solely on their spellchecker.

A Little Bit About Me...

Education: Montclair State University BA - Art History BA - General Humanities Minor - Art History Other - Sigma Alpha Lambda Honors Society I am a museum educator and professional writer. Museum Education: I began volunteering with a local museum in the fourth grade and have continued ever since. I have always preferred working in living history museums as opposed to the big, dusty museums with everything behind glass beside little plaques that are too wordy even for industry professionals to find interesting. I've had many wonderful experiences portraying real individuals as well as no-name individuals from the Revolutionary War all the way up through the first half of the 20th century. Real, tangible history is what I always aim for - I can cook on a wood burning stove and know the basics of pre-industrialized farming, just to name a few things. Writing: I ... read more

My comments on tutoring Journalism : Encouraging instruction from a quality tutor can help students realize the full extent of their talent and ability. As evinced by my professional and scholarly background, I maintain a sincere enthusiasm for the development of reading and writing proficiencies. After earning a juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law — during which time I worked as a staff writer for a legal news publication — I subsequently established a freelance writing and editing business. Collectively, these experiences involved extensive practice in advanced English composition, journalism, legal writing, scholarly research, news media, proofreading, and editing. With experienced instruction, there is no doubt your student can achieve great literary success.

I am great with teaching anything within the literary field because I have gone through college and have learned how to analyze each concept to my greatest ability. Through obtaining my bachelors, we had to complete dozens of workshops until we had a perfect piece of writing and this helped a lot with my ability to teach others the typical way to write, analyze and read.

A Little Bit About Me...

Writing, reading, and english have always been my passions. I don't have any formal training within the english tutoring or teaching worlds; however, I have always been a "go-to" for friends and classmates whenever they had questions or concerns about their assignments. Next fall I will be heading back to school in order to obtain my teaching credentials, and in the meantime, I thought that I would use my talents to help others.

I have love for the art of writing.

As far as experience goes, I've just spent four years as a professional writing major at Kutztown University. I don't have a teaching degree, but I do have experience working with children at Over the Rainbow Nursery School. I would be in classrooms of different age groups ranging from new-borns to 5-year-olds.
I prefer one-on-one only because that's how I personally learn best, and in a one-on-one atmosphere it's easier to pinpoint what one particular child is having problems with.

Journalism is one of my top subjects! Having written well over 100 published articles, I have a B.A. in journalism and can help you with everything from nut grafs to ledes (that's how we journos spell "lead"). I also have web and blogging experience.

I am a published freelancer (Complex Magazine, cinemablend.com, Weightwatchers.com, The Source, etc), and a middle school Language Arts teacher for the past 5 years. I also graduated Rutgers University with a BA in journalism, and I minored in English, so I cover a lot of bases. I can help you with both reading and writing. I have the experience to take you far.
I prefer online tutoring, but in the classroom, I usually use project-based learning, which encompasses everything from reading to listening to creating until the subject is mastered. I like to use fun, learner-friendly examples to spark interest and imagination. Imagination is very important to me. It's built bridges and cities in the past. Imagination and application is king.

More About This Tutor...

I am passionate about learning and education. As a native of Princeton, NJ, I have tutored Princeton students in English for almost 20 years. I like to adapt my style to the student's personality and learning style. Some students learn best through visual methods, some auditory and some prefer experiential learning.
