My comments on tutoring Desktop Publishing : I have over 15 years experiences as a professional desktop publisher/graphic designer and have wards for my art direction and graphic production management. I teach in a relaxed, casual manner, emphasizing an individuals strengths and helping them realize their goals by teaching through n individually created project basis.

I prefer a relaxed, casual teaching style where I emphasis the clients strengths and skills and work off their personality and interest to get them invested in their desire to learn. I do not believe in the 'tutorial' method. Tutorials teach but do not ingrain the learning experience because they do not create an individualized need to retain the process. I help the learner create a individualized project and discover how to achieve the goal of realizing the final creative piece. This helps the learner become invested in the learning process, and helps them retain what they have learned by creating a personalized importance on their acquired knowledge. In essence I work hard at making sure no one feels 'dumb' for not knowing what they want to learn.

My teaching style is: First I give assessment to find out what level of knowlege the student has. According to that I prepare a lesson plan. My first quarter of the session is to go over the homework problems and second quarter I give lecture and 3rd quarter I do practice exercises and the final quarter I take question from student. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with people, especially children. I have been a Crew Trainer at each job I've had because of my ability to relate, connect and teach others. I am very patient and easy-going. One thing I like to identify is my learner's personality so that way I may cater my teaching style to that of his/her needs. Connecting with the individual and making them feel as thought they can do, and keeping this attitude, is key to helping the student grow. Having a positive academic effect on the students' lives is what I strive to achieve.
At the start of my college career, I began tutoring for Calculus. I received an offer from a Professor at Lafayette who had heard about me. She and her husband had two children who were accellerated two years above their classmates. I tutored both children once or twice a week in both of their respective mathematics courses as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my BS in physics and spent over a year working on medical device research. As an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh I spent some time in the Physics Undergraduate Lab helping students in the introductory courses. I also spent time as a Team Leader for Mission Acceptance, a program that pairs successful college students with local high school students and provides mentoring in the college selection and admissions process. These experiences allowed me to learn my audience and assess their needs and also understand the mentality of high school students.
I loved working with the students in the Mission Acceptance program. I worked as a team leader, so I had the opportunity to work with a group of fellow mentors as well as students, which provided me experience with a variety of different students. I learned that each student has his or her own path to understanding ... read more

I believe that all children can learn when you consider what kind of learner they are. I believe that most children have to experience learning through many facets; hearing, touching, seeing and discovery. I also believe that children need to be empowered to learn so that through daily activity their confidence and self-esteem is cultivated, nurtured so that potential can be met and possibly exceeded. I have a strong business background, with an MBA, CPA, and CIA. However, as a student at Susquehanna University, I also volunteered at least 2 days a week at a local preschool where I helped teach the students. In addition, I worked at a local elementary after-school program 2 days a week. I am currently pursuing my teaching certification through Drexel University.
While I enjoy business, working with children is my passion, hence why I am pursuing my teaching certification. I believe the best way to teach students any skill is to let them have hands on experience with it. As an example, in order to learn business skills, students need to practice the skills and understand their relevance in the real world.
