While serving as an adviser to the Peer Counselors team at Woodstock Union High School, I was also a substitute teacher from 1994 to 2001 when I moved to NM. I am a published author at Haworth Press/Taylor Francis Publishers of the book Pastoral Care for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder: Healing the Shattered Soul. I have also been a newspaper editor and received an award from the Massachusetts Press Association in the category of Best Editorial. I have tutored my own children in English in an unofficial capacity.
As a strong advocate of public education, I believe in supporting our educational system. Grammar, writing, composition writing, essays, grant writing, are all skills that I excel in. More importantly than any of that is that I enjoy writing and and enjoy reading books on grammar.
I have tutored friend's children over the course of several years. I have taught religious studies for over 15 years to youth ages 14. I have worked extensively with children in my various lines of work in the mental health field and foster care. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Some non traditional teaching methods I have applied include interpreting math problems through real life situations. I find that some kids will relate to NBA references while others prefer food examples. Either way, it keeps the child interested which is the key role of a good tutor.
Although I listed only 2 years of prior instruction, I have taught over 5 years of business/finance related material. On a school level basis, I personally have a child with ADHD that I tutor at home. I am especially proficient in English/Language Arts.
