I adapt my style to whatever suits the student the best. I will work hard to help the student relate to the material in a personal way, so that it is meaningful to them rather than simple memorization. My goal is to help the person become an independent and critical thinker; skills that are not generally taught, but are crucial for their future success. I then search for a passion, and then use that passion to teach any other subjects they may be deficient in. Each student requires a different approach at different times. Sometimes a documentary will be the best way to convey an idea or find something that may excite them. Pouring over texts and solving hundreds of math problems will not help someone *CARE* about what they are learning, or help them understand *WHY* it is important that they know something.

I have tutored friend's children over the course of several years. I have taught religious studies for over 15 years to youth ages 14. I have worked extensively with children in my various lines of work in the mental health field and foster care. I love teaching and working with children and appreciate that no two children are the same nor do they learn the same way.
